Rumi Spice Afghanistan

By cultivating peace through sustainable economic development, Rumi Spice is proud to source the world’s highest quality saffron direct from rural Afghan farmers.

By working directly with the producer, Rumi Spice develops partnerships with local farmers who are excited about this lucrative alternative to producing saffron. Since the business formed in 2014, the number of partnerships with farmers has more than tripled to 34. Located in Herat, the companies processing facility employs 75 afghan women who hand harvest the saffron which they refer to as, red gold.

This semi-arid region is comparable to Kashmire, recognized as the world’s premier saffron region. The team is comprised of selfless, entrepreneurial US veterans who are also looking to fulfill an underlying purpose of developing peace and prosperity within Afghanistan. By reinvesting 10% of their profits, Rumi Spice is building the agricultural and manufacturing infrastructure necessary to lay a foundation for prosperity throughout the region.
