This is sooooo good. The catalog describes it as "something akin to custard" which suggests that it might be sort of soft & gooey, but the texture is more like a chewy version of cheesecake. I know that sounds weird, but it's extremely enjoyable on the palate. The "custard" part tastes predominantly of egg (if you don't like or are allergic to eggs, my sympathies, b/c this dessert isn't for you), & is lightly sweet without being cloying. The tart cherries (of which there are plenty) make a delicious contrast, both in flavor & texture. A small slice goes a long way (the catalog says 6-8 servings, but there's no way I could eat a slice that big), which makes it a terrific value for the $$. This is a very rich dessert, but not overwhelmingly so. I'm going for the mixed fruit version next.
